Supporting you if you're struggling with trauma, sexual abuse, anxiety, or emotional distress.
Psychotherapeutic Counsellor - Trauma-Informed & Client-Led Therapy
You might be feeling overwhelmed, unsure, or carrying things that are hard to put into words.
You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. It can take a lot of courage to speak about your experiences, especially if they've been dismissed, minimised or silenced.
I offer a calm, supportive space where you can talk at your own pace, in a way that feels safe for you.
Whether you're just beginning to process your experience or have been carrying it for years, your healing is valid, and it's never too late to begin.
My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and centred around you - your pace, your needs, your goals. I will walk alongside you as you reconnect with your voice, rebuild trust in yourself and others, and reclaim your sense of safety and self-worth.
You don't have to navigate this alone. Healing is possible, and you don't have to do it alone.
I'm Gemma, a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor offering both short and long-term therapy in Leicester and online across the UK.
I know that starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you've never spoken before about what you've been through. You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out, we can take things at your own pace, in a way that feels safe and comfortable for you.
I offer a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can talk about what's been going on and begin to make sense of your experiences. You're always in control of what you choose to share, and there is no pressure to go into anything before you feel ready.
I support people who are struggling with the impact of sexual abuse, trauma, anxiety and emotional distress. I understand how difficult it can be to speak about painful or complex experiences, and my role is to walk alongside you with care and sensitivity.
I offer a space that is inclusive and affirming of all identities, including sexual orientation, gender identity, and different ways of experiencing the world. I recognise that people experience and process the world in different ways, and I work in a way that respects and supports that.
I use a pluralistic approach, which means we work together to find the approaches that feel most helpful to you. Therapy isn't one size fits all, we'll shape the work around your needs, your goals, and what feels right for you.
I have recently completed a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice, and hold additional qualifications including:
I am a student member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and work in line within their ethical framework.
I hold professional insurance with Protectivity and I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), ensuring your data is handled safely and confidentially.
If you're thinking about starting therapy, you're very welcome to get in touch. We can have an initial conversation to see how things feel, and whether working together might be right for you.
Don't worry, you're not alone. Finding the right therapist and having a safe space to speak freely, without judgement, can make taking that first step feel easier. Many people feel nervous about starting therapy. this is completely normal.
Taroni Therapy work in accordance with the ethical frameworks of NCPS. Your privacy and wellbeing are central to its practice.

If any of this resonates with you, you're not alone, and you don't have to work through it on your own.
You don't need a diagnosis or a specific label to come to therapy. If something in your life feels difficult, confusing, or overwhelming, you deserve support.
I welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and ways of experiencing the world, including those who are LGBTQ+ or neurodivergent.
I work with you to find out what feels most helpful for you. There's no one sized fits all approach to therapy, instead, we shape the work around your needs, your pace, and what feels right for you.
You don't have to share everything at one. We go at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.

What to expect in your first session
Starting therapy can feel daunting. In our first session, we'll gently explore what has brought you here and what you might need.
You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. There is no pressure - this is your space.
Pre-trial therapy
If you are involved in a police investigation or court process, you may be unsure whether it is possible to begin therapy.
In many cases, counselling can still be accessed during this time. Therapy can offer a supportive space to help you manage the emotional impact of what you're going through.
I work in line with relevant guidance to ensure therapy is carried out safely and appropriately alongside any legal process.
If you're unsure whether therapy is suitable for your situation, you're very welcome to get in touch to talk it through.
Everyone comes to therapy for different reasons, but you might find it helps you to:

I specialise in supporting individuals who have experienced sexual abuse, and also work with a range of other concerns, including anxiety and emotional distress.
The content of our sessions will be confidential, but I may have to break confidentiality if:
1. You threaten harm to yourself or to another person
2. I believe a child or protected adult is at risk of harm or abuse
3. You share information about a proposed act of terrorism or another illegal act
I may also be required by law to share information if ordered by a court.
If I feel that either you or someone else is in danger or at risk of harm, I will first endeavour to discuss with you my decision for breaking confidentiality, however, I retain the right to break confidentiality without prior consultation should I consider that the urgency of the situation requires me to act immediately.
During our initial consultation, this will be discussed and based upon needs and availability. Day and evening telephone and online sessions are currently available.
